Australia Leads Global AI Usage with 5 Million Interactions Per Capita
A recent survey by the company Eskimoz has positioned Australia as the most AI-focused nation in the world, with an impressive rate of over 5 million artificial intelligence interactions per capita. This finding underscores a growing trend in AI adoption, with global use rising by 20% in 2025. The study evaluated three key factors related to AI activity, including traffic to AI-themed websites and applications, to offer a comprehensive view of international usage patterns.
The analysis revealed that Australia’s total annual interactions with AI amount to approximately 1.35 billion, with 1.67% of that traffic directed towards AI tools such as chatbots and content generators. The Netherlands follows closely, claiming the second position with nearly 5 million AI interactions per capita, translating to over 917 million total uses annually.
Comparison of AI Engagement Across Nations
Canada ranks third, recording an engagement rate of 4.8 million interactions per person. Canadians utilize AI a staggering 2 billion times each year, showcasing a preference for specialized AI tools, which constitute 2.4% of all queries. In contrast, the United States leads in total traffic with 16.4 billion AI interactions, but its per capita usage stands at 4.7 million, placing it fourth overall.
The United Kingdom comes in fifth with 3.5 million AI interactions per capita, resulting in a total of 2.4 billion annual queries. A notable 3% of this traffic is attributed to AI tools, reflecting a significant reliance on these technologies. Germany, in sixth place, boasts the second-highest total traffic of 2.6 billion interactions, with AI tools accounting for 3.18% of all visits.
Spain and France follow, ranking seventh and eighth respectively. Spain reports about 1.4 billion total interactions, while France sees 1.9 billion, with both countries demonstrating a strong engagement with AI applications. Peru stands out as the only South American nation on the list, placing ninth with an AI usage rate of 2.6 million interactions per capita and a total of 926 million visits.
Completing the top ten, Malaysia records 2.4 million AI interactions per person, resulting in 888 million total visits to AI platforms. The data indicates that, while larger countries may dominate total traffic, per capita analysis provides a clearer picture of individual engagement with AI technologies.
As countries continue to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday life, Australia’s leading position highlights the growing dependency on these innovative technologies. The findings from Eskimoz suggest a robust trend towards increased reliance on AI, reflecting both opportunities and challenges as societies navigate this rapidly evolving landscape.
