The family of Kaye Margaret McGuire has announced her passing on August 20, 2025, after a brief but valiant struggle with leukemia. She was 79 years old. Kaye spent her final days at ARCH, where she received dedicated care from the medical staff. Her loss has left a profound impact on her family and friends, who remember her not only as a devoted wife and mother but also as a cherished friend to many.

Remembering Kaye’s Life and Legacy

Born on June 18, 1946, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Kaye was the daughter of the late Ennis and Marie Bumstead. She was married to Gerald E. McGuire and was the mother of three, including Gerry McGuire (Rosemary) and Kara Provenzano (Lucas). Kaye’s family expanded to include six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Kaye graduated from Sault Area High School in 1964 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University in 1968. Her professional journey included roles at The Plummer Memorial Hospital and The Children’s Aid Society. Eventually, she chose to devote her time to her family, a decision that highlights her deep commitment to her loved ones.

Her family recalls her as a passionate individual who embraced life fully. Kaye enjoyed spending time on St. Joe’s Island and in Florida, and her interests included geography, traveling to new destinations, and engaging in friendly competition while playing Jeopardy. Her laughter and warmth made her a confidante and a true friend to many.

Acknowledgments and Farewell

The family expresses gratitude to the medical professionals who cared for Kaye during her illness. They specifically thank Dr. Cook, Dr. Rahn, Dr. Hill, and Dr. N. Apostle, as well as the compassionate staff at the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Clinic and Bayshore Home Health for their exceptional service. Kaye’s final months at ARCH were marked by the kindness and empathy of the staff, which her family will always remember.

Kaye’s funeral Mass will take place at Precious Blood Cathedral on August 29, 2025, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel. The family invites those wishing to honor Kaye’s memory to contribute to ARCH or another charity of their choice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable by cheque or online.
