OTR Engineered Solutions Launches TreadIQ to Revolutionize Tire Design
OTR Engineered Solutions has made a significant advancement in tire design with the introduction of its AI-powered platform, TreadIQ. This innovative technology can now complete tire development processes that traditionally took months in just one day.
By leveraging decades of experience in off-the-road tire engineering, OTR’s new platform allows engineers to efficiently craft custom tires and tread patterns for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and distributors. The expedited timeline for finalizing tire concepts enhances the company’s ability to respond to market demands swiftly.
Streamlining Customization and Enhancing Efficiency
With TreadIQ, engineers can input specific customer preferences regarding tread styles and performance characteristics. The system then generates functional 3D tire concepts almost instantaneously. This capability streamlines the customization process and significantly improves operational efficiency.
OTR maintains strategic partnerships with companies in sectors such as construction, mining, agriculture, and forestry. Patrick Sexton, global vice president of engineering and innovation, emphasized the transformative nature of TreadIQ, stating, “TreadIQ is truly the first of its kind in the off-the-road tire and track market. We’ve eliminated the back-and-forth design churn, and now a process that used to take months can be done in a day. It’s a total game changer.”
Beyond the creation of 3D models, TreadIQ provides detailed analyses that allow OTR engineers and clients to compare the performance of various tread patterns. Important factors such as traction, ride quality, and handling can be assessed, enabling customers to select options that meet both aesthetic and performance criteria. The system even allows customers to visualize their proprietary branding on tire models in real time.
Global Collaboration and Rapid Prototyping
OTR offers in-person workshops for OEMs and distributors interested in utilizing TreadIQ. Thanks to the company’s extensive global network, engineers can meet customers on-site anywhere in the world to collaborate on tire design, facilitating swift decision-making. For those unable to arrange an in-person meeting, online workshops are also available.
Once a design concept is finalized, OTR’s engineers can produce full-sized 3D-printed prototypes and conduct confirmation testing. This capability accelerates the transition to full production, allowing clients to bring their products to market more rapidly.
Sexton concluded: “In today’s world, AI is a term that can spark both excitement and apprehension. Our vision is one that empowers both our engineers and our customers. We’re not replacing human creativity with computer modeling; we’re enhancing and expanding what it can achieve, and in turn, what we can produce as a company.”
