Fraser Valley Accountants Gear Up for Annual Development Conference
The 13th annual Fraser Valley Chartered Professional Accountants Association (FVCPAA) professional development conference is set to take place on November 20, 2023, at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre. This event invites local chartered professional accountants, students, and business professionals to engage in a day of enriching presentations and networking opportunities.
Participants can earn seven hours of verified professional development while connecting with peers from across the Fraser Valley. The conference offers a hybrid format, allowing attendees to choose between in-person participation or a virtual experience, catering to various preferences and circumstances.
Agatha Cluff, president of FVCPAA, emphasized the value of the conference, stating, “The FVCPAA Conference continues to be one of the most cost-effective ways for accountants to meet their annual professional development requirements. We’re proud to offer exceptional value, quality speakers, and the flexibility to attend locally or online while fostering the strong professional community that defines the Fraser Valley.”
Expert Speakers and Relevant Topics
The conference features a lineup of expert speakers addressing critical issues in the accounting profession. Among those scheduled to present are Mike Boven, who will discuss GST on real property transactions, and Sandra Miles, who will focus on current workforce metrics. Other notable sessions include Mike Willford on building resilience, updates on tax regulations for 2025, and estate and succession planning presented by Daman S. Bathal and Varinder Chahal.
Additionally, Larson Gross will provide insights into the cross-border business landscape, while a session on cyber security and artificial intelligence in the accounting industry will also be featured. More speakers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, ensuring a diverse range of topics relevant to today’s accounting professionals.
Engagement and Community Support
The FVCPAA, a volunteer-led organization, is dedicated to connecting, educating, and supporting CPAs throughout the region. In addition to the annual conference, the association hosts monthly meetings, social events, and offers scholarships for accounting students at local universities.
The conference is scheduled to run from 08:00 to 17:00, and registration remains open until November 13, 2023. For more information regarding the event and registration details, interested individuals can visit the FVCPAA website at fvcpaa.ca/conference.
