Health Canada has issued an urgent recall for over 16,000 wireless earbuds due to serious safety concerns. The recall affects True Wireless Earbuds that could pose burn and fire hazards due to faulty USB charging cords. These cords were manufactured using incorrect wiring materials, leading to the potential for overheating when in use.

The recall was announced on November 27, 2025, following reports of three incidents in Canada. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries related to these incidents. The affected products were sold in Canada between July 17, 2025, and October 14, 2025, and a total of 16,278 units are involved.

Details of the Recall

Consumers can identify the affected earbuds by checking the packaging for the Universal Product Code (UPC) 774223568363 and the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) 1545426. The earbuds were imported and sold exclusively at Giant Tiger stores across Canada. Health Canada advises consumers to stop using these products immediately and return them to any Giant Tiger location for a full refund.

Products purchased before July 17, 2025, or those labeled with lot number 11012025, are not included in this recall. For further assistance, Canadians can contact Giant Tiger Stores Limited by calling 1-833-848-4437 between 09:00 and 17:00 EST, or via email at [email protected].

Recent Recall Trends in Canada

This recall is not an isolated incident, as Canada has faced several significant product recalls recently. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has issued ongoing alerts regarding a growing list of recalled pistachio products linked to Salmonella infections, with some affected individuals requiring hospitalization. Additionally, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency recently recalled a tea brand due to microbial contamination, and Health Canada has also alerted the public to a recall of ibuprofen sold in pharmacies due to issues with cloudy capsules caused by crystallization.

As these recalls highlight ongoing safety concerns, consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay informed about potential risks associated with products they may use.
