PocketBook Verse Pro Update Enhances Security and Customization

The latest firmware update for the PocketBook Verse Pro has introduced significant enhancements, notably including optional PIN code protection and advanced personalization features. Firmware version 6.9 is now available, offering users a more secure and customizable reading experience.
New Security Features
The most notable addition in this update is the ability to set a 4- or 6-digit PIN code to lock the device. Users can decide when the PIN is required, whether at startup, during unlock, or when connecting via USB. Importantly, all PIN security measures are managed locally, ensuring that no codes are transmitted to external servers. Users will still maintain Wi-Fi access during device lockout, which can assist in recovery if needed.
Enhanced Personalization Options
Firmware version 6.9 broadens the customization capabilities of the PocketBook Verse Pro. Users can now personalize their startup and shutdown screens with advanced logo customization options. This includes displaying book covers, current pages, personal images, or a selection of random artwork, with the ability to showcase up to 10 images. For those who prefer minimalism, the option to have no image is also available. These personalization features can be easily accessed in the Personalize section of the device’s settings.
In addition to security and personalization, several other features have been added to improve the overall user experience. The update includes support for LCP-protected PDFs and audiobooks, allowing users to securely access a wider range of digital content, including titles borrowed from libraries.
Another enhancement is the introduction of multi-library login capabilities for the Onleihe system, which is particularly beneficial for users in Germany. This feature enables easy switching between different library accounts, streamlining the borrowing process.
Furthermore, the update adds Icelandic as an interface language, providing full system support for users in Iceland. Bluetooth compatibility icons have been implemented as well, which visually indicate the supported services for discovered devices, helping users quickly identify compatible accessories.
With these updates, the PocketBook Verse Pro now offers a blend of improved security and deeper personalization, making it feel more tailored to individual preferences. Users are encouraged to update their devices to take full advantage of these new features, enhancing their reading experience in a more secure environment.
