Toronto has secured its position as one of the world’s premier cities, ranking 17th on this year’s “World’s Best Cities” list released by Resonance Consultancy. The announcement, made earlier this week, highlights Toronto’s appeal as a vibrant metropolis, surpassing notable cities like San Francisco and Milan. This year’s evaluation places Toronto ahead of all other major Canadian cities, with Vancouver following at 41st, Montreal at 45th, Ottawa at 73rd, and Calgary at 85th.

Despite its strong showing, Toronto experienced a slight decline from last year’s 15th position. Holding the top spot for the tenth consecutive year is London, U.K., which continues to be recognized for its global influence. The rankings, according to Resonance Consultancy, are based on three primary factors: livability, lovability, and prosperity.

Key Factors Behind Toronto’s Ranking

Toronto’s livability score is attributed to various metrics, including walkability, air quality, and public transit accessibility. The report emphasizes the city’s educated population and its dynamic development as significant contributors to its ranking.

“Canada’s sensible gateway for immigration and innovation is getting a little wild,” the research group noted. Toronto boasts the fourth most educated population in the world, which supports both long-established companies and a thriving start-up ecosystem. This momentum keeps Toronto among the most attractive destinations for immigrants.

The city’s ranking also reflects its ongoing urban development, marked by over 150 tower cranes operating, the renovation of the historic Massey Hall, and the introduction of Love Park’s heart-shaped pond. These developments enhance Toronto’s charm and functionality, showcasing its commitment to growth.

Resonance Consultancy employs a robust methodology that combines core statistics from more than 400 global cities with resident and visitor perception indicators. This includes data from platforms such as Instagram, Google, and TikTok, which help evaluate cities worldwide.

It’s noteworthy that Resonance excluded all Russian cities from the rankings due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which began in 2022.

The impressive top ten list features a mix of global capitals and major urban centers, with London leading the pack. The full list includes:
