Every September, Winnipeg transforms into a hub for burger enthusiasts as it hosts Le Burger Week, a festival dedicated to celebrating innovative burger creations. This year, the event runs from September 1 to 7, 2025, featuring over 100 restaurants showcasing their most imaginative and indulgent offerings.

This popular culinary event is more than just a food festival; it has become a cultural highlight for the city, attracting families, friends, and coworkers who come together to explore the diverse flavors on offer. Each participating restaurant brings its unique flair, making it a week of exploration and enjoyment for local residents and visitors alike.

Notable Burger Creations to Try

Among the standout offerings, Tony Siwicki of Silver Heights presents the “Mac Attack Smack Rib Stack.” This burger features a golden brioche bun that encases a crispy mac and cheese patty, a smash burger core, and slow-braised beef rib meat. Topped with candied jalapeños, bacon jam, molten cheese sauce, and a sharp Dijon mustard, it promises a bold and indulgent experience.

At The Oakwood, owner Wendy May returns with “The Gobbler,” a heartwarming combination of a hand-pressed beef patty layered with roasted turkey, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry mayo, all nestled in a locally baked bun. May encourages diners to “wear your stretchy pants and come hungry” for this returning favorite.

Nuburger’s Regent location features “The Costanza – Trifecta Smash Patty Crueben,” where owner Kyle Matheson combines a juicy local smash patty with corned beef, pickles, and sauerkraut, all served in a buttery croissant. Matheson notes, “For us, the corned beef is the star of the show.”

Another highlight is the “Bacon Baba Burger” from Brad Michalenko at Leopold’s in Transcona. This burger is crafted on a cheese bun and includes a 7oz Angus pork blend patty, jalapeño jack cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, and two deep-fried cheddar perogies, topped off with spicy dill sour cream.

At Simon’s Steaks, Jose Sturym introduces “The H.O.P.” (Honey, Onion, Prosciutto), a delicious combination of crispy prosciutto, caramelized onions, tangy goat cheese, fresh arugula, and a drizzle of hot honey. Sturym describes it as a “flavour bomb” that promises to satisfy a range of taste preferences.

Finally, Doug Stephen of 529 Wellington Steakhouse elevates the festival with a luxurious “A5 Miyazaki Wagyu & Caviar Burger.” This gourmet option layers buttery Japanese Wagyu with silky cheese, crisp greens, and a decadent spoonful of caviar, making it a highlight of Burger Week for those seeking a premium dining experience.

A Community Celebration

The essence of Le Burger Week lies in its ability to unite the community. People from all walks of life come together to enjoy these culinary creations, casting votes for their favorite burgers and celebrating local talent. Restaurant owners view this event as an opportunity to showcase their passion and creativity, while food lovers indulge in a wide array of flavors and textures.

This year’s edition is poised to be one of the biggest yet. With a diverse range of burgers, from outrageous mac and cheese creations to playful spins on classic recipes and luxurious options, there is something to satisfy every palate.
