Windsor Regional Hospital has initiated a recruitment drive to fill approximately 15 positions within its diagnostic imaging (DI) department. The hospital is actively searching for qualified professionals across Canada in key areas such as MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine. This effort aims to address staffing shortages that are impacting the delivery of high-quality medical care.

To facilitate this recruitment, Windsor Regional Hospital has launched a dedicated job page for diagnostic imaging roles. The DI team is crucial for providing accurate and timely patient care through advanced imaging technologies. According to the hospital’s Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President, Nicole Krywionek, the current vacancy rate in diagnostic imaging exceeds 10%, compared to an overall hospital vacancy rate of around 5%.

Incentives to Attract Talent

To attract candidates, the hospital is offering a signing bonus of up to $25,000. Krywionek noted that this incentive is part of a broader strategy to enhance recruitment efforts. “We are trying some creative solutions,” she stated. “We’ve been very encouraged with the response to some of our latest recruitment efforts, and we are seeing the vacancies decrease.”

Despite these efforts, Krywionek acknowledged challenges in filling these specialized roles, particularly due to a lack of a medical radiation technology (MRT) training program in Windsor. The hospital is looking to attract talent from across Ontario to meet its staffing needs. “Ultrasound has no vacancies, but we have four vacancies in MRI and five in CT, as well as four to five in nuclear medicine,” Krywionek explained.

Focus on Multiple Campuses

The recruitment drive is focused on positions available at both the Ouellette and Met campuses of Windsor Regional Hospital. Krywionek emphasized the importance of the DI department in enhancing patient care and expressed hope that the signing bonuses and targeted recruitment strategies will successfully fill the essential roles.

For those interested in applying for these positions, further information is available through the hospital’s official recruitment page. As Windsor Regional Hospital continues to prioritize filling these vacancies, it underscores the ongoing need for skilled professionals in the healthcare sector, especially in specialized areas of diagnostic imaging.
