Rideau LRT Station Closed Following Fatal Cardiac Arrest Incident

The Rideau LRT Station in Ottawa was closed on March 25, 2024, following a tragic incident involving a man who suffered a cardiac arrest. Paramedics received the emergency call at approximately 15:25 local time, responding swiftly to the scene where the individual collapsed.
According to a spokesperson from Ottawa Paramedics, the adult male was located on an escalator “at or near” the station when he experienced the medical emergency. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency Response and Public Safety
An official from the Ottawa Police confirmed that officers arrived at the location shortly after the incident to manage the situation. At around 17:30, the police reported that there was no ongoing danger to the public and assured that the area would be cleared shortly. Police barrier tape was placed at the entry points of the station to ensure public safety during the emergency response.
The closure of the Rideau LRT Station caused temporary disruptions to transit services, affecting commuters in the area. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, while the community mourns the loss of the individual involved.
