Red River College Launches New Programs to Meet Job Market Demands

Students at Red River College Polytech will return to classes on September 4, 2023, as the institution unveils a suite of new programs designed to align with the evolving job market. Among these is an innovative entertainment production program, spearheaded by instructor Brendon Sawatzky, who is eager to prepare students for careers in a rapidly changing industry.
The entertainment production program aims to equip students with the skills needed to take creative projects from inception to completion. “It’s really suited for people who want to take a creative project from start to finish,” Sawatzky explained. He emphasized that there is a growing demand for producers in the industry, as many aspiring filmmakers express their desire to create films but often lack the production expertise. “There’s really not enough producers. Everyone you talk to has a film they would like to do, write or direct, and so a need for more producers is really important,” he added.
This program is part of five new offerings at RRC Polytech for the 2023-2024 school year, reflecting the institution’s commitment to adapting to industry needs. The college aims to provide relevant, hands-on training that prepares students for immediate employment in their chosen fields.
As the landscape of work continues to shift, educational institutions face the challenge of equipping students with the necessary skills to succeed. RRC Polytech is responding proactively by developing programs that not only address current industry gaps but also foster creativity and innovation among students.
The introduction of these programs underscores a broader trend within educational institutions to remain agile and responsive to the needs of the job market. As industries evolve, so too must the training and education provided to the next generation of professionals.
For more information on the new programs and how they can benefit potential students, visit the RRC Polytech website or consult the college’s academic advisors.
