A variety of community events are set to take place in the Waterloo Region and surrounding areas on November 1 and 2. These gatherings encompass cultural celebrations, local entertainment, and family-friendly activities, offering something for everyone.

Musical Performances and Cultural Celebrations

On Saturday, November 1, from 15:00 to 16:30, the Laurier Brass Ensemble will host an end-of-term performance at Wilfrid Laurier University, located at 75 University Avenue West. Attendees can expect a mix of classical pieces alongside familiar movie soundtracks.

Also on November 1, from 12:30 to 15:30, a celebration titled “All Hallows’ Eve: Honouring Our Ancestors” will take place at Camp Ki-Wa-Y, 3738 Hessen Strasse. This event will commemorate both Dia de los Muertos and Samhain, inviting community members to honor their ancestors through a range of activities.

Another engaging event, the Fall Festival, will occur on Saturday, November 1, from 10:00 to 15:00 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2 Quebec Street. This festival showcases local small businesses, providing a platform for artisans and creators to connect with the community.

For those interested in culinary arts, an Artisanal Sourdough and Ciabatta Bread Baking Workshop is scheduled on the same day at Conestoga College, 108 University Avenue. Running from 10:00 to 14:00, this workshop allows aspiring bakers to learn techniques and leave with freshly baked loaves.

As the day progresses, the Pumpkin Promenade Fundraiser will take place from 17:00 to 21:00 at Tytler School, 131 Ontario Street. This event features an illuminated pumpkin trail, a glow area, and a reptile show, all to raise funds for local food banks and community programs.

Family Activities and Sporting Events

On Sunday, November 2, the Womb to Walking Baby Toddler Show will be held from 10:00 to 16:00 at Bingemans Centre, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive. This annual event showcases a wide range of products and services for new parents, including strollers, educational classes, and other parenting resources.

Sports enthusiasts can support the Guelph Storm as they face off against the Sarnia Sting on November 2 at 14:00, taking place at the Sleeman Centre, 50 Woolwich Street. This home game promises an exciting atmosphere for fans of junior hockey.

Later that day, from 17:00 to 21:00, the Hindu Society of Guelph invites the public to celebrate the 53rd Annual Diwali event at the University of Guelph’s Arboretum, located at 200 Arboretum Road. Attendees can enjoy traditional food, music, and cultural performances, all in the spirit of the Festival of Lights.

These events not only highlight local culture and community spirit but also offer opportunities for connection and celebration.
