Pedestrians Injured in Surrey Car Collision; One in Critical Condition

A serious incident occurred on the evening of September 3, 2023, in Surrey when two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. The collision took place around 20:30 at the intersection of 124 Street and 92 Avenue. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, including personnel from the Surrey Police Service, BC Emergency Health Services, and local firefighters.

One pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. The second pedestrian, who suffered minor injuries, was also taken to the hospital. According to Sgt. Tige Pollock, a media relations officer for the Surrey Police Service, both individuals are currently receiving treatment.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with authorities. Preliminary investigations do not suggest that alcohol or other impairments played a role in the incident.

Investigation Underway

The Surrey Police Service’s Collision Investigation Unit has been notified and is actively involved in the ongoing investigation. They are receiving assistance from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

As investigations proceed, police are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. The authorities aim to gather as much information as possible to ensure a thorough examination of the events leading up to the collision.
