Week 4 of the high school football season features several intriguing matchups, notably the clashes involving the unbeaten teams from Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West, as well as a host of others across various conferences. As the competition intensifies, several teams seek to establish their dominance early in the season.

Joliet Catholic and Marist Seek First Wins

Both the **Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers** and the **Marist Redhawks** are looking for a much-needed victory as they square off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 29. Each team enters the game with an **0-3** record, marking a rare occurrence for both programs. For Joliet Catholic, this is the first time since **2017** that they have started the season without a win after three games. Their struggles have been evident, particularly in their defense, which has struggled against the passing game, most recently allowing over **300 passing yards** in a loss to Fenwick. Quarterback **Lucas Simulick** and running back **Anthony Finnegan** have provided some offensive sparks, but their efforts have not been enough.

Similarly, Marist has faced tough competition, suffering losses to **St. Rita**, **Brother Rice**, and a narrow defeat against **Montini**. The Redhawks’ defense also faltered, giving up significant yardage, which has hampered their chances for success. Running back **Kevin Bartolotta** has emerged as a key player, but both teams are in desperate need of a turnaround.

Lincoln-Way Showdown Highlights Week 4

The highlight of the week features a significant matchup between **Lincoln-Way Central** and **Lincoln-Way West**, both boasting **3-0** records. Scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, this Southwest Valley Crossover clash promises to be thrilling. Lincoln-Way Central’s defense has been formidable, recording two shutouts this season, including a recent clean sheet against **Stagg**. Defensive back **Nolan Morrill** played a pivotal role in the team’s success, also contributing a punt return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West has also been impressive, continuing to showcase strong defensive performances. The Warriors limited their opponents to only one touchdown in two games, recently defeating Andrew decisively. This matchup between the two district rivals could be one of the most competitive encounters in their history, with both teams looking to maintain their perfect records.

Other notable games include **Providence** taking on **Niles Notre Dame**, with both teams at **2-1**. Providence is coming off a solid victory over **Carmel**, led by sophomore quarterback **Dominic Vita**, while Niles Notre Dame narrowly lost to **St. Laurence** last week.

In the Southwest Prairie Conference, **Oswego East** will face **Joliet Central** at 7 p.m. on Friday. Oswego East remains unbeaten at **3-0**, supported by a strong defensive unit that has only allowed **16 points** this season. In contrast, Joliet Central’s defense has struggled, conceding **119 points** in the last two weeks, causing concern for their competitiveness in upcoming matchups.

As teams continue to fight for playoff positioning, these Week 4 games are crucial, offering a chance for some to rebound from slow starts while providing others the opportunity to solidify their status as title contenders. The outcomes of these games could significantly shape the remaining weeks of the season, making every play and every point count.
