Wizard101 Launches on Consoles, Expanding Magical Universe

KingsIsle Entertainment has officially expanded its popular turn-based MMO, Wizard101, to consoles, making it available on PlayStation and Xbox starting today. This marks a significant milestone for the game, which has previously been exclusive to PC players. The console launch aims to introduce the enchanting world of Wizard101 to a broader audience of aspiring wizards.

Originally designed as a PC-exclusive title, Wizard101 combines strategy and fantasy through its turn-based deckbuilding gameplay. Players journey through the vibrant realms of the Spiral, attending Ravenwood Academy to learn spells and engage in battles that protect various magical worlds. With the arrival on consoles, both newcomers and longtime fans can explore this family-friendly MMO filled with colorful characters and captivating storytelling.

Free Access and Paid Options for Console Players

The console version of Wizard101 is free to download, granting players access to the newly expanded Free to Play area located in the Oasis zone of Krokotopia. Players can further enhance their gaming experience by unlocking additional content using Crowns, the in-game currency, or by purchasing Access Passes through the console storefront. At launch, users on PlayStation and Xbox have the option to buy the Wizard101 Arc 1 Access Pass for $19.99, which includes full access to the first arc of the game’s story.

Console players will embark on their magical journey from scratch, as progression made on PC servers does not transfer to the new platform. Currently, cross-progression is not available. KingsIsle has also announced plans to release Wizard101 on Nintendo Switch at a future date, with the same $19.99 price point for full access to the initial story arc. Notably, Switch players will share servers with their fellow console users, ensuring a cohesive magical experience across platforms.
