AT&T Unveils amiGo Jr. Phone and Smartwatch for Kids
AT&T has officially launched the **amiGo Jr. Phone** and the **amiGo Jr. Watch 2**, catering specifically to children. This marks AT&T as the first major carrier to introduce a smartphone designed exclusively for kids. The company emphasizes that these devices aim to provide a safe and manageable way for children to access communication tools while allowing parents to maintain control over their usage.
Features of the amiGo Jr. Phone
Developed in partnership with **Samsung**, the amiGo Jr. Phone features a straightforward design that prioritizes functionality over aesthetics. With a **6.7-inch FHD+ display** and a resolution of **2,340 x 1,080 pixels**, the phone is equipped with a **5,000mAh battery** and runs on the **Android 16 operating system**. It boasts a robust **50MP primary camera**, a **5MP ultrawide lens**, and a **2MP macro lens**, alongside a **13MP front-facing camera** for selfies.
The device supports **5G connectivity**, Bluetooth 5.3, and includes Dual SIM capabilities. Parents can utilize the free **AT&T amiGO app** to manage screen time, application access, and device settings. Notable safety features include **location sharing**, **Safe Zones**, and **schedules** that restrict usage during school hours. The phone is priced at **$209.99**, or available for **$2.99 per month** over a **36-month installment plan**.
Introducing the amiGo Jr. Watch 2
Accompanying the smartphone is the **amiGo Jr. Watch 2**, which offers additional functionalities tailored for younger users. The smartwatch features a **1.6-inch color display** with a resolution of **320 x 320 pixels** and is designed to withstand everyday wear and tear. It is powered by the **Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 5100 processor** and operates on **Android 11 GO**.
This device includes a **5MP front-facing camera**, **2GB of RAM**, and **32GB of internal storage**. The **600mAh battery** provides sufficient power for day-to-day activities, and the watch has an **IP68 rating** for water and dust resistance. Similar to its smartphone counterpart, the amiGo Jr. Watch 2 allows for parental controls via the AT&T amiGO app, which includes features such as location monitoring and an SOS alert function.
