The DeKalb County Community Foundation has appointed Kyle White as its new Community Engagement and Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) Manager. This announcement was made in a recent news release from the Foundation. White, who joined the organization in October 2024 as the part-time YEP Manager, has taken on an expanded role that will enhance the Foundation’s outreach and community engagement initiatives.

In his previous position, White served as the lead staff advisor for the YEP program, collaborating closely with the youth-led YEP Executive Committee. He guided high school members through various activities, including meetings, volunteer opportunities, and grantmaking decisions, all while promoting leadership skills and community involvement. The newly defined role will see White further supporting the Foundation’s community engagement efforts, which include fostering relationships and implementing initiatives aligned with the Foundation Board’s vision.

Strengthening Community Ties

Jolene Willis, the Director of Grants and Community Initiatives, expressed enthusiasm about White’s expanded responsibilities. “We are excited that Kyle has taken on an expanded role at the Foundation,” she stated. “His experience leading our Youth Engaged in Philanthropy program, combined with his skills in outreach and relationship building, make him an outstanding addition to our community engagement efforts and collaborative initiatives across DeKalb County.”

White brings over 30 years of experience working with students and nonprofit organizations in DeKalb County. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Reflecting on his time with YEP, White noted, “This past year with YEP has been a fruitful, collaborative time of asking, ‘What could happen in our community?’ I look forward to growing into this expanded role and asking that same question. I am thankful for the additional opportunity with the Foundation.”

Community Engagement Initiatives

White’s appointment signals a commitment to strengthening the connection between youth leadership and broader community engagement efforts in DeKalb County. His role will facilitate outreach and relationship-building initiatives that aim to involve more community members in the Foundation’s activities.
