Burns Lake Terry Fox Run Seeks Donations for 2025 Event
The Burns Lake Terry Fox Run is actively seeking donations in preparation for its upcoming event on September 14, 2025. Established in 1981, this annual fundraiser has gained significant traction within the community, raising nearly $500,000 since its inception. Recently, Derek Feldman, the owner of Priestly Meats, stepped into the role of lead organizer following the retirement of longtime coordinators Carla Carlson and Tammy Zayac.
Feldman emphasized the importance of community networking in the early stages of his role. He has now shifted his focus toward fundraising efforts to ensure a successful run. “Burns Lake punches above its weight class when it comes to donations collected,” he stated. In past years, the event has raised as much as $24,000, showcasing the generosity of this small community.
Those interested in contributing can do so at the CIBC bank or at the Priestly Meats truck, which is frequently present at the local farmer’s market. Additionally, residents can pick up lawn signs promoting the event at Priestly Meats. Volunteer support is always welcomed, and donations of flowers and produce are encouraged on the day of the run.
Event Details and Community Involvement
The Burns Lake Terry Fox Run is set to take place at Francois Lake Hall, with registration starting at noon and the run commencing at 1 p.m. This year’s event promises a lively atmosphere, featuring food, live music, and a silent auction. Feldman invites the community to “come out and enjoy yourself and be entertained,” highlighting particularly delicious cinnamon buns that will be available. He humorously remarked that he might be tempted to eat them all himself, adding a personal touch to the event.
The scenic route along Francois Lake enhances the appeal of the run. “It’s a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful run,” Feldman remarked, noting that the picturesque setting makes it an ideal location for participants. The combination of community spirit, active participation, and a stunning backdrop makes the Burns Lake Terry Fox Run a highlight of the local calendar.
As the event approaches, organizers are enthusiastic about the community’s involvement and support. The Burns Lake Terry Fox Run continues to exemplify the power of collective action in supporting cancer research. Anyone who wishes to contribute or participate is encouraged to join in on the festivities and support a worthy cause.
