Kishwaukee College Foundation Awards $218,866 in Scholarships

The Kishwaukee College Foundation recently announced the distribution of $218,866 in scholarships to support local students for the fall semester. A total of 296 scholarships were awarded to students enrolled at Kishwaukee College, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities within the community.

These scholarships are funded through generous contributions from various local agencies, community members, and businesses. Each student was selected based on specific criteria set forth for the scholarships, ensuring a competitive and merit-based process.

September 15 through October 15 marks the application period for the foundation’s spring semester scholarships, allowing students another opportunity to apply for financial support.

Highlighted Scholarship Recipients

Several students were recognized for their achievements and awarded scholarships from various endowments. Among the recipients were:

– **AG Communications Endowment**: Brian Cuevas of Mendota and Damian Nava-Barrientos of Rochelle.
– **Albert and Frances Besserman Endowment**: Luis Blas of Rochelle.
– **Barry Haber Kiwanis Club of DeKalb Scholarship**: Ella Medina, Citlally Reyes Colorado, and Natalia Rivera-Munoz, all from DeKalb.
– **Beulah and Roberta Hackett Endowment**: David Andrade, Justin Bell, Vanessa Briseno, and others from the surrounding areas.

The Bruce Cobb Horticulture Scholarship was awarded to Crystal Larrabee of DeKalb, while the Bud and Kay Stocking Rochelle Rotary Service Above Self Endowment recognized Kara Martinez and Annaleigh McKinney, both from Rochelle.

Additionally, recipients of the Kishwaukee College Alumni Association Scholarship included Keli Perez of DeKalb, and the Kishwaukee College First-Generation Scholarship was awarded to Daniel Bermudez of Sterling, among others.
