As Vancouver approaches the Remembrance Day holiday on November 11, residents can expect a mix of weather conditions that reflect the fragmented long weekend. For those who have not taken Monday off, the holiday will officially extend from Saturday through Tuesday, creating a varied climate landscape.

The weather forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) indicates that Friday will showcase typical Vancouver weather, with a blend of sunshine and rain. Daytime temperatures are projected to reach a high of 11 °C, dropping to a low of 6 °C overnight.

Looking ahead, Saturday is expected to be relatively pleasant, featuring predominantly sunny skies and a daytime high of 11 °C. However, temperatures will dip to a cooler 4 °C at night. By Sunday, the weather shifts again, combining sunny intervals during the day with increased rainfall in the evening.

The forecast takes a turn starting Monday, as consistent rain is expected to dominate the weather through Thursday, including Remembrance Day on Tuesday. Throughout this period, daytime temperatures will likely fluctuate between 10 °C and 11 °C, with overnight lows averaging around 6 °C. While ECCC has not released specific rainfall totals for this stretch, residents should prepare for wet conditions.

In an insightful discussion with ECCC meteorologist Derek Lee, it was revealed that while October closed with seasonal temperatures, a shift is anticipated for November. Lee stated, “We still have a good confidence that it should still be above normal for temperatures [in November].”

As for the potential for snow, Lee noted that temperatures may not drop sufficiently until December or even early 2026. This uncertainty arises from the weak signals ECCC relies on to predict future weather patterns. While November could still surprise with an unexpected snowfall, it is challenging to forecast at this time.

As Vancouverites gear up for the holiday, the fluctuating weather serves as a reminder of the city’s unpredictable climate. Whether individuals are planning outdoor activities or commemorative events for Remembrance Day, staying informed about the forecast will be crucial in navigating the varied conditions ahead.
