Jordan Kyrou Expresses Relief Over Trade Rumors as Blues Star Stays Put

The trade rumors surrounding Jordan Kyrou concluded without action, much to the relief of the St. Louis Blues forward. Although Kyrou has never played for the Montreal Canadiens, speculation about his potential move to Montreal dominated discussions this summer. As the Blues appeared open to trading the talented player, fans and analysts alike pondered the implications of such a move. Ultimately, no trade occurred, and Kyrou expressed his gratitude for remaining in St. Louis.
In a statement reported by Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Kyrou reflected on the tumultuous summer filled with speculation. “That’s the first time I was kind of a little nervous, maybe. But I’m glad nothing happened and glad I’m staying here with the Blues. I love it here. I love living here. It’s like my home now,” he shared on October 8, 2025.
Kyrou’s name surfaced prominently in trade discussions, especially after reports emerged in early July indicating that he had considered waiving his no-trade clause to join the Canadiens. This revelation sparked curiosity about his intentions and whether he had changed his mind. While Kyrou may have been open to the idea of joining Montreal, his current sentiments suggest a deep connection to St. Louis.
The Canadiens would have welcomed Kyrou’s offensive skills, given his impressive record of scoring 35 goals and averaging 70 points over the past three seasons. His addition to the Canadiens’ top-six forward group could have provided a significant boost to the team’s offensive capabilities, enhancing the depth of Martin St-Louis‘s roster.
Despite the potential benefits, the Blues likely had high demands for Kyrou, which contributed to the trade’s stagnation. General Manager Kent Hughes is known for his dedication to maintaining the core of his team, making it unlikely he would gut the roster for a single player, no matter how talented. The Blues, recognizing Kyrou’s value, were justified in holding out for a substantial return.
As the NHL season progresses, Kyrou’s performance with the Blues will be closely watched. With the trade rumors behind him, he can focus on his game and contribute to his team’s success. The impact of this decision will not only affect Kyrou’s career but also shape the future of both the Blues and Canadiens as they navigate the competitive landscape of the NHL.
While the summer was filled with uncertainty, Kyrou’s commitment to St. Louis stands firm. As the new season unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how this decision plays out on the ice.
