As children head back to school, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness is not just providing a space for workouts; it is nurturing confidence, discipline, and a foundation for future success. The gym, founded in 2005 by owner and head coach Gatin, emphasizes the holistic benefits of boxing training for youth and adults alike.

Gatin highlights the positive transformations seen in young participants: “For kids, it’s about confidence and self-esteem. Parents tell me their children come home with more energy and focus, and even start doing better at school.” This holistic approach combines physical training with life skills, helping students navigate challenges both inside and outside the ring.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness is offering a special promotion for new members. Youth memberships for ages 6 to 13 and adult memberships for those aged 14 and older are priced at $150 per month (a reduction from the regular $180), alongside a $165 annual fee for Boxing BC and Boxing Canada. This offer is available until September 30, 2025.

Classes at the gym begin with cardiovascular exercises like skipping, sprints, and circuit training, which mirror boxing’s rhythm of intense activity followed by recovery. Participants then advance to technical skills, including footwork, defensive drills, and offensive combinations. While younger boxers concentrate on developing coordination and core strength, adult members engage in high-intensity drills with increased resistance. Sparring sessions, introduced after six months, focus on strategic learning rather than aggressive competition. Gatin remarks, “At first, it’s light and tactical. We’re not there to hurt each other – it’s about learning.”

The impact of Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness extends beyond the gym. Gatin notes that many alumni have pursued diverse and successful careers, becoming not only champions in the ring, such as Golden Gloves winners and national champions, but also professionals in fields like medicine, real estate, and business leadership. “For a small gym, we’ve had big success,” he states. “The common thread is discipline, consistency, and goal-setting. Those skills translate whether you’re in the ring, in the classroom, or in a boardroom.”

With a dedicated team of three additional coaches, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness has established a reputation for producing well-rounded athletes who are not only physically stronger but also more confident and capable in their lives. Gatin concludes, “Our goal is to make sure people leave tired – but smiling.”

Located just five minutes from Downtown Aldergrove, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness continues to welcome new members eager to build their skills and confidence in a supportive environment. For more information, interested individuals can contact the gym at 604-826-1455.
