Stellantis has officially unveiled the new Ram Rampage, a compact pickup designed for the European market. The launch took place in early November at the Fieracavalli 2025 event in Italy, known primarily for showcasing equestrian activities. The Rampage is positioned as a “premium compact pickup,” marking a significant expansion for the Ram brand, which is traditionally known for its larger trucks.

The Rampage shares its platform with the existing model available in South America, indicating a strategic move by Stellantis to cater to diverse markets. Measuring approximately 5,025 millimeters (just under 200 inches), the Rampage incorporates design elements from other Stellantis vehicles such as the Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet. This collaboration hints at Stellantis’s aim to optimize production and assembly processes by streamlining components across different models.

Market Strategy and Production Plans

While the Rampage is set to appeal to European consumers, it will be assembled in Brazil. This arrangement allows for a shared production base that can benefit both markets. Although the European version may see slight adjustments in trim and features to meet local preferences, the fundamental design will remain largely the same as its South American counterpart.

This strategy raises questions about the accessibility of the Rampage in North America. Due to significant tariffs and regulatory hurdles, it is unlikely that this model will make its way to the U.S. market. Stellantis appears more focused on developing a different midsize truck, potentially named the Dakota, which aims to compete with models like the Ford Maverick and Ranger.

The Dakota is currently being produced in Argentina, alongside a Fiat variant, and is based on a platform derived from China. This combination of factors suggests that North American availability for both models may be limited in the near future.

Consumer Demand and Future Outlook

The absence of a compact or midsize truck option from Ram in North America has left many enthusiasts eager for alternatives. With growing interest in smaller pickups, particularly from competitors like Ford, there is a noticeable demand for a vehicle that can compete effectively in this segment.

Despite the challenges posed by tariffs and production logistics, Stellantis is reportedly planning to launch up to 25 new products within the next 18 months, which may include more options for the North American market.

For now, Ram fans in North America will have to wait as the Rampage and Dakota make their debuts in Europe and South America, respectively. The global automotive landscape continues to evolve, and Stellantis is positioning itself to capitalize on emerging opportunities, albeit with some hurdles yet to overcome.
