New Streaming Titles in Canada: What to Watch Oct. 13-19
A variety of new streaming content is available in Canada from October 13 to October 19, featuring exciting titles across platforms such as Crave, Netflix, Paramount+, and Prime Video. This week presents a mix of documentaries, legal dramas, political thrillers, and animated features, catering to diverse viewer preferences.
Highlights from Crave and Netflix
On Crave, the much-anticipated series Boston Blue premieres on Saturday, October 18. This spin-off of the popular police drama Blue Bloods follows former NYPD detective Danny Reagan, portrayed by Donnie Wahlberg, as he joins the Boston Police Department. The series, created by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, also features notable actors such as Sonequa Martin-Green and Ernie Hudson. Viewers can expect a gripping narrative that blends action and drama, with the series also set to appear on Paramount+ later in the month.
Netflix delivers a slate of new content as well, starting with the political thriller The Diplomat, which debuts on Thursday, October 16. Following the unexpected death of the president, the series sees characters Kate, Hal, and Grace navigating their new realities, with Keri Russell leading the cast alongside Allison Janney and Rufus Sewell. This eight-episode series, each running about one hour, is created by Debora Cahn, known for her work on Homeland.
Additionally, the animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch launches on Tuesday, October 14. Based on the popular video game franchise, this action-packed series features the voice talent of Liev Schreiber and Joel Oulette. It follows legendary spy Sam Fisher as he embarks on a mission to uncover a global conspiracy across eight half-hour episodes.
Finally, on Friday, October 17, Netflix introduces The Twits, an animated musical comedy inspired by Roald Dahl’s book. The film, co-written and directed by Phil Johnston, features a star-studded voice cast, including Natalie Portman and Emilia Clarke. This delightful story revolves around two children teaming up with magical animals to thwart the villains threatening their town.
Paramount+ and Prime Video Offerings
On Paramount+, the legal drama Matlock makes its debut on Sunday, October 19. This modern reimagining of the classic 1980s series explores intriguing legal cases through the eyes of its main character, portrayed by Kathy Bates. The series is created by Jennie Snyder Urman, known for her role in Jane the Virgin, and promises to engage viewers with its compelling storytelling.
For sports enthusiasts, Prime Video kicks off the 2025-26 hockey season with Prime Monday Night Hockey on Monday, October 13. The season opener features the Toronto Maple Leafs facing off against the Detroit Red Wings. All games will be streamed on Prime Video, which is available as part of an Amazon Prime membership.
