MSI Launches Exclusive Gold-Trimmed Motherboard for Anniversary

MSI has announced a special edition motherboard to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its premium Godlike series. The MEG X870E Godlike X Edition, unveiled during Gamescom 2025, showcases a striking gold trim, aligning with the high-end aesthetics of gaming components. This limited edition motherboard is part of a lineage that began with the X99A Godlike Gaming and has evolved into a symbol of luxury in the gaming PC market.
The Godlike X Edition is not merely a cosmetic upgrade. It features advanced technology designed for high performance, including a Dynamic Dashboard III, EZ Link, and the M.2 Xpander-Z Slider Gen5. MSI will manufacture only 1,000 units of this exclusive model, each accompanied by a gold nameplate and a Black Lucky plush, a nod to the company’s dragon mascot.
While there is no confirmed price for the Godlike X Edition yet, the standard edition retails at $1,100. When combined with other high-end components such as the ROG Astral RTX 5090 and G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo, the total cost of a top-tier gaming setup could exceed $8,510. For those seeking alternatives, the RTX 5080 offers a comparatively reasonable option at approximately $2,589.
MSI highlights that the Godlike X Edition continues the brand’s tradition of pushing the boundaries of overclocking technology. The motherboard claims to set a new overclocking record, appealing to enthusiasts looking to maximize performance without compromising on aesthetics.
Features of the Godlike X Edition
The MEG X870E Godlike X Edition maintains the robust design characteristic of its predecessors, featuring a powerful VRM setup with 24 + 2 + 1 phases and numerous heatsinks to ensure optimal thermal management. Notably, this model significantly improves usability, offering seven USB Type-C ports, including two USB4 connections. In total, the board accommodates five Type-C and eight Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, surpassing the previous X670E Godlike’s nine ports.
MSI’s approach to luxury gaming hardware has drawn mixed reactions. While some celebrate the merging of high performance and premium design, others express concern over the increasing prices associated with premium components. As manufacturers like MSI target affluent gamers, the perception of PC hardware is shifting towards exclusivity and status.
The Godlike X Edition exemplifies this trend, combining extreme specifications with luxurious aesthetics. While it may appeal to a niche market, the implications for broader accessibility in gaming hardware are worth considering.
Future Developments and Additional Offerings
Alongside the Godlike X Edition, MSI has unveiled a new lineup of motherboards called ‘Max’, which include advanced overclocking tools such as OC Engine and OC jumper. These features are designed to provide gamers with fine-tuned control over their AMD CPUs, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
Additionally, MSI is introducing the MAG View Xpander 12, a 12.3-inch screen that can be integrated into various MSI cases or used as a standalone display. The company also teased the new Maestro 900 Series at Gamescom, which promises to deliver enhanced performance and aesthetic appeal.
As MSI continues to innovate in the gaming hardware space, the MEG X870E Godlike X Edition stands as a landmark in the evolution of motherboards, merging cutting-edge technology with a luxurious design. Whether this approach resonates with mainstream consumers remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly sets a high bar for competitors in the gaming market.
