Kobo Clara BW E-Reader Returns to Stock in the USA

The popular e-reader, the Kobo Clara BW, is now available for purchase again in the USA after a brief period of unavailability. In early October, the device had sold out on both the main Kobo website and Amazon, leaving consumers uncertain about when it would return. As of today, customers can once again buy the Kobo Clara BW through Kobo’s official online store and Amazon.
Product Features and Specifications
The Kobo Clara BW stands out as the only modern Kobo e-reader featuring a black-and-white e-paper display, while other models, such as the Kobo Clara Colour and Kobo Libra Colour, utilize color screens. The previous black-and-white e-reader, the Kobo Sage, has been discontinued for over a year. Recently, the Kobo Clara BW received a silent update that included a significantly larger battery, enhancing its performance.
Equipped with a 6-inch E INK Carta 1300 e-paper panel, the Kobo Clara BW offers a resolution of 1448 x 1072 pixels and boasts a 300 PPI density. The display is designed to be 25% more responsive than its predecessor, the Kobo Clara 2e. Notably, the screen is recessed without glass, allowing for improved text visibility due to the exposed e-paper’s proximity to the reader’s eyes. The device is available solely in black.
The ComfortLight PRO feature provides adjustable brightness with both white and amber LED options, allowing users to read comfortably at night. Many users have found that setting the white light at 35% and the amber light at 7% results in a bright display, comparable to that of the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.
Technical Specifications and Connectivity
Internally, the Kobo Clara BW is powered by a MediaTek MT8113L processor, running at 1 GHz, with 512 MB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Unlike previous models that relied on SD cards, this e-reader features EEMC storage soldered directly onto the circuit board, streamlining its design.
Users can purchase and listen to audiobooks and e-books from Kobo, with support for Bluetooth 5.0 enabling pairing with earbuds, headphones, or external speakers. The device also includes an internet browser, allowing users to visit various websites. Additionally, Pocket integration lets users save articles directly to their Kobo, while compatibility with thousands of libraries via OverDrive allows for convenient borrowing and reading.
Connectivity is facilitated through Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, supporting dual-band frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This ensures a stable and reliable internet connection for seamless browsing and content access.
With the Kobo Clara BW back in stock, readers looking for a reliable black-and-white e-reader now have the opportunity to purchase a device that combines advanced features with user-friendly design.
