Explore Chilling Worlds in Dead Format’s First Demo on Steam

Players can now immerse themselves in the haunting universe of Dead Format, as Katanalevy and Oro Interactive have released the first public demo on Steam. This survival horror game invites users to delve into two VHS tapes, each unlocking a unique and nightmarish world inspired by classic cinema.
In Dead Format, every aspect has been meticulously crafted for an authentic experience. The game features original VHS footage, recorded and edited by Katanalevy, to evoke the distinct atmosphere of different cinematic eras. Players will alternate between exploring the tapes and returning to their apartment, a fragile sanctuary where they can reflect, gather clues, and uncover the mystery of a missing brother. This space serves as a critical point for recovery and preparation before confronting the horrors that await within the tapes.
The demo introduces two contrasting worlds for players to navigate. One environment evokes the eerie atmosphere of 1930s silent horror, while the other embraces the grotesque body horror characteristic of the 1980s. This latter segment draws inspiration from iconic films such as Alien and The Thing. As players traverse these twisted realms, they will encounter lurking dangers, solve intricate puzzles, and strive to survive against unimaginable forces.
To accompany the demo’s release, Oro Interactive has also unveiled a new trailer. This preview offers a glimpse into the tone, style, and impending dread that players can expect in the full version of Dead Format, which is scheduled for release in 2025. The demo highlights the unsettling beauty of analog horror, blending nostalgia with fear, creating an experience that feels both familiar and deeply disturbing.
Those interested in exploring the chilling atmosphere of Dead Format can download the demo now on Steam and begin their terrifying journey, one tape at a time. With a blend of engaging gameplay and cinematic inspiration, this demo provides a compelling preview of what is to come in the full release.
