Vancouver Island to Launch Live Hologram Showcase at Summit
In a significant technological advancement, the upcoming Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit will feature the first live hologram showcase. Taking place in Nanaimo from October 28 to 30, 2025, this event will demonstrate how global leaders can appear as holograms during presentations and discussions.
This innovative technology has emerged from a collaboration between FuturVille, Proto Hologram, and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. As part of the summit, Paul Healy, a partner at Futurus in Ireland, will deliver his keynote address via “livebeaming,” allowing attendees to interact with him in real-time.
Julie Sperber, executive director of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, emphasized the importance of this technology, stating, “Our goal is to make global connections feel local. This technology helps Vancouver Island leaders experience the power of AI and innovation first-hand—connecting your business and community in ways that make the world feel smaller.”
The summit aims to attract over 600 attendees, including business, government, First Nations, and community leaders. Organizers anticipate that this event will mark the beginning of widespread adoption of holographic technology in workplaces and community spaces across the island.
FuturVille, a Nanaimo-based destination development agency, focuses on promoting optimal health and longevity. Angela Fay, the agency’s founder, highlighted the potential of holographic communications, explaining how “holohealth” solutions can enhance healthcare delivery and customer service. She noted that healthcare professionals could utilize this technology to establish low-cost clinics, thereby expanding access to medical services in regional communities.
The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit is poised to showcase the potential of holographic technology, illustrating how it can transform local and global interactions. As the event approaches, interest in this cutting-edge innovation continues to grow, promising to reshape the landscape of communication and collaboration.
