Canadian Researchers Invited to Apply for €35,000 Microbiome Grant

The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation has announced an opportunity for Canadian academics and scientists to apply for a research grant worth €35,000. This funding aims to support innovative projects that explore the human microbiome and its relationship with health and disease. The call for proposals is part of the Foundation’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in this crucial field.
Grant Details and Application Process
The 2025 National Grant in Canada is open to researchers affiliated with Canadian institutions and universities. The selected project must focus on the microbiome’s role in human health, with a duration of one to two years. Applications must be submitted by October 31, 2025, and the results will be announced by November 30, 2025, by an independent scientific committee dedicated to evaluating the proposals.
This initiative underscores the Foundation’s mission to support research that deepens our understanding of how microbiota interact with various human pathologies. The Foundation seeks to foster non-profit research projects that demonstrate exceptional potential and innovative approaches.
Celebrating Previous Success
As the Foundation launches this year’s grant cycle, it also recognizes the achievements of Dr. Emerson Krock, the winner of the 2024 National Grant. His research has made significant contributions to understanding the relationship between gut microbiota and chronic pain, particularly in the context of fibromyalgia.
Dr. Krock’s groundbreaking work focuses on how autoantibodies associated with pain can develop and their connection to gut microbiota. His findings could lead to new diagnostic tools and treatment options for millions suffering from chronic pain. This type of impactful research aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s goals of advancing our knowledge of microbiota and their role in human health.
Researchers interested in applying for the grant can find detailed eligibility criteria and application guidelines on the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation website. This funding opportunity represents a significant step towards fostering innovative research and enhancing our understanding of the microbiome’s influence on health.
