Campbell River Genealogy Society Hosts Online Seminar on Research Skills

The Cambell River Genealogy Society will conduct an online seminar focused on genealogy research skills on November 8, 2023. This informative session aims to equip participants with the necessary tools to effectively conduct genealogical research using the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS).
Details of the Seminar
Participants will learn about the five essential elements of the GPS, which include: reasonably exhaustive research, complete and accurate source citations, thorough analysis and correlation, resolution of conflicting evidence, and soundly reasoned, coherently written conclusions. These foundational skills are critical for anyone engaged in genealogy, whether for personal interest or professional purposes.
The seminar will be led by Eva Holmes, a genealogist and educator from Maine. Holmes specializes in research pertaining to New England and Atlantic Canada, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the session. Her expertise is expected to enhance the learning experience for all attendees.
Registration Information
Pre-registration is mandatory for those wishing to attend the seminar, with a registration fee of $10. Individuals can register online until November 7, 2023, by visiting the registration link provided by the society. This seminar presents a valuable opportunity for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of genealogical research methods and practices.
As interest in genealogy continues to rise, the Campbell River Genealogy Society’s initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of accurate and thorough research in uncovering family histories.
