Popular Children’s Clothing Exchange Set for Spring Revival
The children’s clothing exchange program in Dorion, Nipigon, and Red Rock will return this spring, offering families an opportunity to exchange gently used clothing and accessories. The Brass Bell Family Resource Centre, which organizes the event, has confirmed that the next exchange will take place in April 2024, with specific dates currently being finalized.
Caregivers are invited to participate in this community initiative, where they can donate items such as clothing, rubber boots, and other necessities. While bringing items to donate is encouraged, it is not mandatory for participation. Colleen Kjellman, executive director of the Brass Bell Family Resource Centre, emphasized that “you don’t have to bring anything” to join the exchange. This approach aims to ensure that all families can benefit from the program, regardless of their immediate ability to contribute.
The fall clothing exchange recently concluded, running from Monday to Wednesday of last week, and has been a staple in the community for nearly 20 years. These exchanges not only provide families with access to affordable clothing but also promote sustainability by giving a second life to gently used items. Any surplus clothing that remains after the exchanges will be donated to local organizations that assist families in need, further extending the impact of this initiative.
As a non-profit agency, the Brass Bell Family Resource Centre focuses on supporting families in the region through various programs and services. For more information about the upcoming spring clothing exchange, interested individuals can contact Brass Bell at 807-857-2943. This initiative continues to foster a sense of community, making it easier for families to access the resources they need while also giving back to those who may be struggling.
