A musician from Summerland, British Columbia, has been officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Paul Rodgers, known for his role as a founding member of the legendary bands Bad Company and Free, was the sole Canadian to receive this honour in 2023.

Due to health concerns, the 75-year-old Rodgers could not attend the induction ceremony held in Los Angeles. In his absence, fellow Canadian artist Bryan Adams represented him and delivered an electrifying performance of one of Rodgers’ songs. “Bryan was amazing on so many levels — such a consummate professional. It was an absolute charge watching him perform our song,” Rodgers remarked in a video acceptance speech.

In his heartfelt address, Rodgers expressed gratitude to his wife, Cynthia, calling her “my secret force and the reason my heart still beats.” Originally from Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, Rodgers relocated to Canada in 1997 after meeting Cynthia. He became a Canadian citizen in 2011, relinquishing his British citizenship.

Rodgers co-founded Bad Company in 1973, alongside guitarist Mick Ralphs. The ensemble also featured bassist Boz Burrell and drummer Simon Kirke. Bad Company is celebrated as one of the defining rock bands of the 1970s, known for their powerful ballads and hard-hitting rock anthems.

To commemorate this achievement, a new album titled Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company has been released. This compilation features various rock, country, and Americana artists interpreting the band’s classic songs. Both Rodgers and Kirke contribute to the album, further highlighting their enduring legacy.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which celebrates the contributions of influential musicians, can be streamed on Disney+ on demand. Additionally, a primetime special showcasing performances and memorable moments from the event will air on January 1, 2026.

Rodgers’ induction not only honours his impressive career but also serves as a reminder of the significant impact that Canadian musicians have had on the global music scene.
