Netflix Designer Karin Bohn Collaborates on New Townhome Project
A new collaboration between designer Karin Bohn and Creo Developments is bringing innovative interior design to the Morrison Walk townhome project in Moodyville, North Vancouver. Under construction, this development features three unique colour palettes that reflect the region’s natural beauty and landscape.
Karin Bohn, known for her role in the 2020 Netflix series Restaurants on the Edge, has crafted designs inspired by the North Shore. She describes the options available to potential homeowners, stating, “We have one light white scheme, which we’ve called our cloud scheme.” This palette incorporates white cabinets, light oak millwork, and soft white countertops to create an airy, spacious feel.
The second option, termed the mountain scheme, offers a more rugged aesthetic. It features oak and grey tones, with grey cabinetry and beautiful grey stone accents in the bathrooms. “There’s a grey quartz on the kitchen and bathroom countertops,” Bohn explains, highlighting the complementary elements within this design.
For those seeking a bolder look, the forest scheme presents deep, rich colours. “You see that both in the kitchen and the bathrooms,” Bohn notes, mentioning dark green kitchen cabinets paired with walnut-coloured millwork. The scheme includes darker walnut flooring and black countertops, creating a striking, masculine look that draws inspiration from the surrounding forests. Each design is elevated with gold hardware and fixtures, adding a touch of elegance to the overall aesthetic.
Bohn emphasizes the variety of choices available, noting that many developers typically offer only one or two options. “Being a North Shore girl myself, the landscape in North Vancouver is just incredible, and the three schemes were really inspired by the surrounding nature,” she says.
In addition to the aesthetic considerations, Bohn collaborated with Creo to ensure the functionality of the townhome units. “We wanted to ensure that the stacked townhomes were very functional, so we integrated storage solutions wherever we could,” she explains, indicating a commitment to both style and practicality.
The anticipated completion date for Morrison Walk is set for the fall of 2024, and it promises to offer a blend of modern design and functional living spaces that reflect the North Shore’s unique character.
Additional Developments in the Area
The excitement surrounding Morrison Walk coincides with other notable projects in the Vancouver area. For instance, AetherHaus, Vancouver’s first sauna and cold plunge studio, opened in June at English Bay. The space, designed to celebrate the duality of fire and ice, features a Himalayan salt sauna and communal cold pools. Founder Kevin Frank aims to create a unique experience through thoughtful design that enhances relaxation and social connection.
Meanwhile, interior designer Kelly Deck is launching her new wallcovering company, Odette. The debut collection, Château de Cartes, showcases historic motifs reimagined with modern sensibilities, printed in small batches on eco-friendly materials. Deck is also introducing a design blog and newsletter to share insights from her creative journey.
Another significant project is Bosa Development‘s Pier West, described as a “true legacy project.” This ambitious undertaking includes two towers, standing 52 and 43 storeys tall, offering a total of 665 homes with expansive views and premium amenities. Each building features over 5,000 square feet dedicated to shared facilities, such as fitness centres and lounges, alongside public green spaces and a pedestrian path.
These developments illustrate a vibrant growth in the region, combining modern living with a strong connection to the natural landscape. As projects like Morrison Walk come to fruition, they not only enhance the local housing market but also enrich the community lifestyle in North Vancouver and beyond.
