Giants Players Support Langley Pizza Fundraiser for Youth Sports

On September 6, 2023, Papa Johns in Langley, British Columbia, is hosting its inaugural community fundraiser to benefit local youth sports and recreational organizations. With a minimum donation of $2 per slice of pizza, the event aims to raise funds for the Be a Giant Foundation, in partnership with the Vancouver Giants. The fundraiser will take place at the Papa Johns location in the Fraser Crossing mall from noon to 4:30 p.m.
Community Engagement and Support
Bhavikkumar and Shilva Patel, the owners of the local franchise, noted that this is the first event of its kind for them. While they are uncertain about the total amount they will raise, they expressed optimism about the potential for similar initiatives at other Papa Johns locations in the future. “We see this as an opportunity not just to sell pizza, but to engage with and support the community that supports us,” said Bhavikkumar Patel.
The event promises more than just pizza. Attendees will have the chance to meet several players from the Vancouver Giants, who will be present to sign autographs. Additionally, participants can enter hourly giveaways for prizes, including pizza for a year and tickets to Giants games. The Patels believe these incentives will attract more local residents to the fundraiser.
Building Stronger Community Connections
According to the Patels, the event is about celebrating the local community. “Being local business owners in Langley means more than just running a store – it means being part of the heartbeat of this community,” they stated. They emphasized their commitment to giving back, saying, “From supporting youth sports to local events, it’s all about building stronger connections with the community we’re proud to call home.”
Papa Johns has operated in British Columbia for approximately 20 years, with 40 locations across the province, including stores in downtown Langley City and Willoughby, as well as a kiosk at the Langley Events Centre, home of the Vancouver Giants. The Giants’ regular season is set to begin later this month, with their first home game scheduled against Penticton on September 20.
The Patels concluded with a clear message about their business philosophy: “Our message is simple: Papa Johns Langley is here for more than just business. We’re here to make a positive difference by showing up, supporting local programs, and spreading joy wherever we can – and of course, sharing some great pizza along the way.”
