Explore the Impact of Space on Community at The Walrus Talks

The Walrus will host a virtual event titled “The Walrus Talks at Home: Place and Belonging” on November 4, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. This event aims to explore how the environments we inhabit influence our sense of community and belonging. Four expert speakers will present their insights on the concept of “third spaces” — social environments beyond home and work, such as parks, libraries, and online forums.
The discussion will delve into the challenges and benefits of creating spaces that foster social connections. As urban areas continue to evolve, understanding the importance of such places is crucial for enhancing community engagement. The Walrus emphasizes that thoughtful design and investment in these environments can significantly strengthen social bonds.
Registration for this online event is free but required. Participants can secure their spots through Eventbrite. The event is designed to be accessible to all attendees, with captioning available. Those needing additional support for full participation can contact The Walrus directly at [email protected] or call (416) 971-5004, ext. 247.
The Walrus acknowledges its sponsors, including Air Canada as the Exclusive Airline Partner and Bullfrog Power as the Green Events sponsor. Support from Indspire as the National Education Sponsor and RBC for Canadian creators further underscores the commitment to fostering community dialogue and creativity.
This event promises an evening of thought-provoking discussions and inspiration, addressing how the spaces we create today can contribute to a collective sense of belonging for future generations.
