The Dukes of Dixon High School emerged victorious at the PAWAC International Scholastic Bowl held on November 8, 2023, at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. This marks the third consecutive year that Dixon has claimed the championship title. With a commendable record of 7-1 throughout the day, the team secured their place in the finals by defeating Peoria Notre Dame.

The tournament was distinctive in its approach, challenging participants not only on traditional subjects such as literature and chemistry but also on global education and significant news events from the past year. As champions, the Dixon team received a grand prize of $300 and a trophy, along with an automatic invitation to compete in the prestigious World Affairs Councils of America Academic WorldQuest in Washington, D.C., scheduled for April 2026.

The 24th annual International Scholastic Bowl welcomed students from 20 high schools across central and western Illinois, including regions such as the Peoria area, the Quad-Cities, Decatur, Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, and Springfield. Alongside Dixon and Peoria Notre Dame, the top finalists included the University (Normal) in third place and Richwoods (Peoria) in fourth. Other notable afternoon finalists were Illinois Valley Central (Chillicothe), Rochester, The High School of St. Thomas More (Champaign), and North Mac (Virden).

Among the standout competitors was Nathan Stauter from Dixon, who excelled by answering 33 questions, earning him a spot as the second-highest scorer out of 170 participants on the All Tournament Team. The dedicated team members of Dixon High include Stauter, Ronin Quick, Jayden Toms, Gage Farster, and Brady Rosinski, all under the guidance of their coach, Tom Padilla.

The success of the tournament was made possible through the efforts of over 30 volunteers and support from organizations such as the Peoria Area World Affairs Council, Bradley University, and the Carson & Iris Varner International Business Institute at Illinois State University. Their collaborative efforts ensured a well-organized and enriching experience for all participants.
