Campbell River Encourages Thanksgiving Food Donations for Those in Need
A local initiative in Campbell River is urging residents to extend the spirit of Thanksgiving by donating excess food to families and individuals in need. Caremongering Campbell River is calling on community members to share their leftover meals, including turkey soup, stuffing, and other traditional dishes, to help alleviate food insecurity in the area.
Community Efforts to Combat Food Waste
Thanksgiving often results in significant food leftovers, and Caremongering Campbell River aims to ensure that this surplus does not go to waste. According to Tara Jordan, founder of the organization, “Caring for each other is what our community does best.” She emphasizes that even a small contribution, such as a batch of soup or a few groceries, can make a substantial difference for someone in the city.
Residents are invited to visit www.caremongeringcr.ca for guidance on how to share their food. Additionally, those interested in volunteering or donating can reach out via email at [email protected]. The organization started as a grassroots movement to connect neighbors during challenging times and has since grown to include thousands of members dedicated to sharing food and support.
Strengthening Community Bonds
Caremongering Campbell River’s mission aligns with the core values of the community, fostering a sense of unity and compassion. Each meal shared not only addresses immediate needs but also reinforces the bonds that make Campbell River a caring environment. “Every meal shared helps strengthen the bonds that make Campbell River such a caring place to live,” Jordan added. “So, if you’re ladling out turkey soup or packing up leftovers this week, consider setting aside an extra portion for someone who could use a bit of warmth and nourishment.”
The call for donations comes at a time when food insecurity remains a pressing issue in many communities. By encouraging residents to participate in this initiative, Caremongering Campbell River aims to cultivate a culture of sharing and support during the festive season.
As Thanksgiving approaches, the organization hopes that local residents will embrace the opportunity to contribute to their community’s welfare. By turning excess food into a gesture of kindness, Campbell River can collectively uplift those who may be struggling. The spirit of Thanksgiving can extend beyond the dinner table, creating a more inclusive atmosphere for everyone.
