Agriculture Community Unites for Annual Acres for Education Appeal

Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC-SK) has launched its third annual fundraising campaign, urging the agriculture community to contribute to the Acres for Education initiative. This campaign aims to enhance agricultural education for thousands of students across the province. A notable matching partnership with JGL Livestock will double every dollar donated, amplifying the impact of contributions.
Connecting Students with Agriculture
The funds raised through the Acres for Education campaign directly support AITC-SK’s programs that facilitate hands-on agricultural experiences for students. These experiences, offered at no cost to teachers, are designed to inspire curiosity about food production and instill confidence in modern farming practices. The initiative encourages students to explore the opportunities within Saskatchewan’s vital agricultural sector.
Since its inception in 2023, the campaign has successfully raised over $110,000, providing meaningful agricultural learning opportunities to countless students. This collective effort from farmers, ranchers, and community supporters underscores the importance of investing in the next generation and ensuring agriculture remains a significant part of educational curricula.
Voices from Leadership
Sara Shymko, Executive Director of AITC-SK, emphasized the profound impact of donations on the province’s future. “Every dollar donated is a direct investment in building informed consumers,” she stated. “With JGL matching every gift, this is the moment for our community to come together and make a real impact.”
Melissa MacLean, Director of Marketing & Philanthropy at JGL, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of education in shaping the future of agriculture. “By investing in education and supporting organizations like AITC-SK, we’re excited to help students connect with agriculture and build a deeper understanding and appreciation of the food we all rely on every day, and those who grow and produce it,” MacLean remarked.
The Acres for Education campaign runs until December 31, 2023. Contributions can be made by visiting aitc.sk.ca/acresforeducation. JGL Livestock will match every dollar donated up to $25,000, further incentivizing the community to participate.
The ongoing support from the agricultural community not only enriches students’ education but also strengthens the connections between youth and agriculture, fostering a greater appreciation for this essential industry.
