Windsor Regional Hospital is expanding its team by actively seeking new staff for its diagnostic imaging (DI) department. The hospital has launched a dedicated job recruitment page aimed at filling multiple vacancies in key imaging specialties, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine.

According to the hospital, the DI team is crucial for providing accurate and timely medical care through advanced imaging technologies. Currently, Windsor Regional Hospital aims to recruit approximately 15 new professionals, a response to ongoing staffing challenges within the department.

Incentives for New Staff

To attract qualified candidates, the hospital is offering a signing bonus of up to $25,000. Nicole Krywionek, Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President of Windsor Regional Hospital, noted that while there are no vacancies in the ultrasound department, the MRI and CT departments are seeking to fill four and five positions, respectively. Additionally, there are similar vacancies in nuclear medicine.

Krywionek stated, “We are trying some creative solutions. We’ve been very encouraged with the response to some of our latest recruitment efforts, and we are seeing the vacancies decrease.” Despite these efforts, the hospital is experiencing a vacancy rate of approximately 5 percent overall, with the DI department facing a higher rate, around 10 percent.

Challenges in Recruitment

The recruitment process has proven challenging due to the absence of a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) training program in Windsor. Krywionek explained that this limitation forces the hospital to seek talent from across Ontario. “We have good uptake with students, but as we see, this is a priority area across all of Ontario,” she added.

Windsor Regional Hospital is looking to fill these vital positions across both its Ouellette and Met campuses. Interested candidates can find more information on the application process on the hospital’s dedicated recruitment page.

As the demand for diagnostic imaging services increases, Windsor Regional Hospital’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care through effective staffing solutions.
