RCMP Launch Search for Missing Nanaimo Man with Health Issues

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are actively searching for Danny Kwan, a 69-year-old man from Nanaimo, British Columbia, who was reported missing after last being seen on September 18, 2025. Concerns are heightened due to Kwan’s significant health issues, prompting a coordinated effort to locate him.
Kwan was last seen at his residence in north Nanaimo at approximately 15:30 local time. According to the RCMP, he is believed to have left his home on his recently purchased e-mountain bike. As part of the search operation, the RCMP have enlisted the assistance of Nanaimo Search and Rescue (NSAR).
Search Efforts and Concerns
The search teams have established a command post on Dumont Road and are focusing on nearby hiking and biking trails in their efforts to locate Kwan. The RCMP have emphasized the urgency of the situation due to Kwan’s health conditions, stating, “Kwan has significant health issues. As a result, there is concern for his overall health and well-being.”
Kwan is described as approximately five feet nine inches tall, weighing around 165 pounds, and he has bald hair with brown eyes. A recent photograph of him is available to aid in identification. His bicycle is a black Volt model featuring full suspension, orange pedals, black saddle bags, and fat tires.
Call for Public Assistance
The RCMP are urging anyone with information regarding Kwan’s whereabouts to reach out. Members of the public are encouraged to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345. The collaboration between local law enforcement and search and rescue teams underscores the community’s commitment to ensuring Kwan’s safe return.
This ongoing search highlights the critical role that community involvement plays in locating missing persons, particularly when health concerns are involved. As the search continues, authorities remain hopeful for a positive outcome.
