The GPS Parent Series is set to host a vital webinar titled “Untangling Teen Challenges Today: The Epidemic of Stress and Anxiety” on October 30, 2023. The event will feature clinical psychologist and renowned author Lisa Damour at both noon and 19:00 (7 p.m.) via Zoom. This session aims to address the pressing challenges facing today’s adolescents and the associated emotional stressors.

During the webinar, Damour will delve into the normal developmental phases teenagers experience and highlight when behaviors may warrant concern. Drawing on her extensive experience and the latest research, she will provide insights into the critical transitions that help shape young individuals into self-assured adults. Participants can expect to gain practical strategies for fostering effective communication and engagement with teenagers, ultimately supporting their emotional well-being.

Damour’s expertise extends beyond the classroom, as she served as a consultant for Pixar’s acclaimed film “Inside Out.” She is also the author of several best-selling books, including The Emotional Lives of Teenagers and Under Pressure. In this session, she will discuss her updated edition of Untangled: Guiding Teens Through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood, which offers a flexible framework for maintaining meaningful connections with adolescents.

The conversation will be moderated by Jennifer Wallace, an award-winning journalist and author known for her contributions to The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. Wallace began her career with CBS’s “60 Minutes” and currently serves as a journalism fellow at The Center for Parent and Teen Communication at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The GPS Parent Series welcomes all caregivers to participate in this complimentary event, and no registration is necessary.
