Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid has made a significant contribution to Highland Elementary School, providing funding to enhance the playground experience for students. Announced on October 14, 2023, the donation aims to procure new equipment that fosters playtime and physical activity during recess.

The financial support will enable Highland Elementary to purchase a diverse range of playground supplies. Items include sports balls, cornhole boards, new soccer goals, and various materials specifically designed to promote cooperative games, creativity, and active play among students.

Enhancing Play and Development

“Our primary focus is on safety, but we also recognize the importance of play in a child’s development,” stated Zach Oltmanns, owner of Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid. He expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the positive impact the donation will have on students’ engagement during recess. “We are thrilled to support Highland Elementary in providing more opportunities for their students to be active, collaborate, and have fun. It’s a joy to know our contribution will lead to more smiles and healthier recess periods.”

The introduction of this new equipment is expected to offer students a wider variety of activities, which will help to alleviate congestion on existing playground structures. This enhancement is particularly valuable as it caters to different interests and encourages physical activity.

Gratitude from School Leadership

In response to the generous donation, Jacque Buchanan, principal of Highland Elementary School, expressed deep appreciation. “We are incredibly thankful for this thoughtful donation from Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid. Recess is a vital part of the school day. Having a variety of engaging equipment means every student, regardless of their interests, will find something fun to do. This gift will make a huge difference in enriching our students’ outdoor experience.”

Highland Elementary plans to procure the new playground equipment promptly and integrate it into school activities within the coming weeks. This initiative not only aims to enhance playtime but also supports the overall well-being of students by promoting active lifestyles and social interaction during recess.
