Glenbard Council Hosts Webinar on Effective Discipline for Children

The Glenbard Bilingual Parent Advisory Council will host a webinar titled “Smart and Healthy Discipline for Young Children” on October 2, 2023, at 19:00 (7 p.m.) via Zoom. The session, led by psychologist Mariana Proske Gutierrez, will be conducted exclusively in Spanish. This initiative aims to equip parents and guardians with effective discipline strategies tailored for young children.

Participants can expect to gain insights into practical methods for managing children’s behavior, promoting their safety, and supporting healthy development. Gutierrez will address key topics, including the optimal use of consequences and timeouts, appropriate responses to disruptive behaviors, and the essential communication skills needed to reinforce positive actions while discouraging negative ones.

Mariana Proske Gutierrez is a nationally certified bilingual school psychologist with an education specialist degree in school psychology. She has extensive experience, having presented to numerous parents, educators, and students about enhancing parent-child relationships, developing emotional intelligence, and empowering families.

The webinar is part of the ongoing GPS Parent Series, which welcomes all interested parties. There is no requirement for registration, making this an accessible opportunity for the community to engage in meaningful discussions about child discipline.
