Diocese of Joliet and University of St. Francis Forge Admission Partnership

The University of St. Francis (USF) has entered into a partnership with the Diocese of Joliet, creating a streamlined pathway for high school students to gain admission to the university. This agreement, detailed in a recent announcement from USF, aims to enhance access to higher education for graduates of diocese-affiliated Catholic high schools.
Under this memorandum of understanding, graduates from schools including Benet Academy, Bishop McNamara Catholic School, IC Catholic Prep, Joliet Catholic Academy, Montini Catholic, Providence Catholic, and St. Francis will be guaranteed admission to USF. This initiative not only simplifies the enrollment process but also provides financial support through the Joliet Franciscan Scholars award, which offers up to $3,000 to eligible students.
In addition, students will still have the opportunity to apply for merit-based scholarships at USF, which can reach up to $21,000 based on academic performance, including test scores and GPA.
Support and Resources for Students
To further assist prospective students and their families, the University of St. Francis plans to organize workshops and information sessions. These events will cater to diocese-based school counselors, teachers, parents, and students, ensuring that they are well-informed about the resources available for admissions and enrollment.
Ryan C. Hendrickson, President of the University of St. Francis, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are so pleased with this new partnership and look forward to working with the Catholic high schools within the Joliet diocese. We now have a pathway that removes admission barriers and eases the pathway to enrollment at USF, which includes scholarship support.”
Jim Quaid, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the benefits for students. He remarked, “This partnership between the Diocese of Joliet and the University of St. Francis provides the students of our Catholic high schools a wonderful option. They can advance their education while staying engaged with the Catholic church in the diocese, growing in their faith and serving our community.”
Geographical Context and Future Plans
The Diocese of Joliet covers several counties in Illinois, including DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee, Kendall, and Will. This partnership is expected to strengthen the connection between local high schools and USF, offering students valuable opportunities that align with their educational and spiritual goals.
