TMX Group and Coding for Veterans Commemorate Remembrance Day
On November 11, 2025, the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) marked Remembrance Day with a special market opening ceremony featuring Jeff Musson, Executive Director of Coding for Veterans, alongside members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). This event served as a tribute to veterans and highlighted the important work being done to support their transition into civilian careers.
Celebrating a Milestone in Veteran Support
Coding for Veterans is celebrating a significant achievement, having reached 1,000 enrolments in its training programs. These initiatives are designed to assist Canadian military veterans as they move into the technology sector. Through a range of specialized online courses in software development, cybersecurity, and generative AI, the organization equips veterans with the skills needed for sustainable careers in high-demand fields.
“It’s always a privilege to open the trading day at the Toronto Stock Exchange,” Musson stated during the ceremony. “What better way to honour veteran service as they transition into civilian life than by providing them with the necessary training that leads to lasting and lucrative second careers in software development and cybersecurity?” His remarks underscored the commitment of Coding for Veterans to create pathways for ex-military personnel into the tech industry.
Pathways to Employment
The training provided by Coding for Veterans aims to facilitate a smooth transition from deployment to employment. By focusing on skills that are increasingly sought after in the technology sector, the organization not only honours the service of veterans but also addresses the growing demand for talent in these fields. This initiative embodies a broader recognition of the contributions made by veterans to their country and the need to support them in their next phase of life.
As the market opened, attendees reflected on the importance of community and the role that organizations like Coding for Veterans play in fostering new opportunities for veterans. The collaboration between the TSX and veteran support programs highlights a commitment to social responsibility and workforce development, marking a meaningful observance of Remembrance Day.
