Summit Reforestation and Forest Management Ltd. has entered a significant partnership with Ki Reforestation, a Toronto-based environmental technology firm. This collaboration involves a strategic equity investment that aims to enhance reforestation efforts through advanced aerial seeding systems. With over four decades of experience in tree planting and more than 750 million trees planted across Canada, Summit seeks to leverage Ki’s innovative technologies to address critical reforestation challenges in the country.

The partnership combines Summit’s extensive operational expertise with Ki’s cutting-edge drone-based seeding and proprietary seed encapsulation technology. This initiative aims to transform reforestation processes, particularly in remote or hazardous terrains that are often difficult for ground crews to access.

Trevor Grant, Founder and CEO of Ki Reforestation, noted the urgency of the situation, stating, “Canada faces one of the largest reforestation challenges in the world, and many areas in need of recovery are simply unreachable by crews on the ground.” The integration of Ki’s aerial delivery systems with Summit’s experience promises to significantly reduce costs and eliminate safety risks for workers. This approach allows for replanting on a much larger scale, thereby addressing the pressing need for ecological restoration following wildfires.

Ki Reforestation has spent the past four years developing its technology, focusing on proprietary seed encapsulation formulations that enhance germination and survival rates of seedlings. The alliance with Summit not only provides the necessary logistical support but also accelerates the field testing and commercial rollout of these innovative systems. “This collaboration allows Summit to bring an entirely new service to market,” said Jason Krueger, CEO of Summit Reforestation. “By pairing cutting-edge technology with decades of planting know-how, we’re helping usher in the future of reforestation.”

In addition to this partnership, Ki recently announced a separate operational collaboration with Volatus Aerospace. This strategic move expands Ki’s capabilities in delivering precision aerial planting solutions throughout Canada. The company anticipates being fully operational in time for the 2026 planting season, marking a significant step forward in the reforestation sector.

Both organizations are committed to advancing sustainable practices that not only help restore ecosystems affected by wildfire and deforestation but also provide scalable solutions for future challenges. By combining their strengths, Summit Reforestation and Ki Reforestation position themselves at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry, focusing on effective and safe reforestation methods that can benefit the environment and local communities alike.

This partnership underscores a growing recognition of the importance of innovative technologies in environmental restoration efforts. As wildfires and deforestation continue to pose serious threats to ecosystems, collaborations like this one may hold the key to more effective and resilient responses to these challenges.
