Sault Ste. Marie Stores Targeted in Back-to-Back Robberies

Two businesses in Sault Ste. Marie experienced consecutive robberies early on the morning of December 16, 2023. According to local police, a single male suspect allegedly threatened employees while demanding cash and merchandise.

The first incident occurred at approximately 06:30 in the 600 block of Wellington Street West. The suspect reportedly claimed to have a knife hidden in his pocket and intimidated an employee to facilitate the theft. Shortly after, at around 07:00, the same individual targeted a store located in the 200 block of Dacey Road. During this second robbery, he allegedly threatened to use a firearm and proceeded to take money from the establishment.

Police initiated an investigation and, on December 19, apprehended a suspect in the 0 to 100 block of James Street. The individual, identified as Dallas Solomon, aged 30, faces multiple charges, including two counts of robbery and one count of failure to comply with a probation order. He is currently in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of community vigilance in light of these incidents. Local residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to help maintain safety in the area.
