Forty-five families in Sault Ste. Marie will receive turkey boxes this holiday season, thanks to a community initiative led by Feeding Your Soul Cafe and its partners. The cafe’s Giving Tree program encouraged patrons to donate, resulting in a significant contribution to local families in need.

The Children’s Aid Society of Algoma will distribute these turkey boxes to families who will benefit most from these generous donations. This collaboration not only highlights the importance of community support but also ensures that families facing challenges can enjoy a festive meal during this special time of year.

Community Partnerships Enhance Efforts

The initiative saw contributions from various local organizations, including PUC, S&T Group, Sweet Greetings, Repair Inc., and Trimount Construction. Additionally, CAVACTIS Public Relations, Pet Smart, Henderson Metal, Wholesale Club, the Algoma Autism Society, and the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District joined forces with Feeding Your Soul to make this effort a reality.

Mary Greenwood, the owner of Feeding Your Soul, expressed the significance of these contributions, stating, “A meal and a moment of joy can mean so much to families who may be struggling.” This initiative not only provides food but also fosters a sense of community spirit and support.

As the holiday season approaches, initiatives like this remind us of the impact that collective efforts can have on those in need. The Turkey Box program illustrates how local businesses and organizations can come together to make a difference, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate the season with warmth and joy.
