Peak-Season Reservations Open Soon for B.C.’s Iconic Trails
Reservations for two of British Columbia’s most sought-after adventure destinations, the Berg Lake Trail and the Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit, will open on December 2, 2025. The announcement was made by the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks, highlighting the excitement for outdoor enthusiasts eager to secure their spots for the 2026 peak season.
Berg Lake Trail stretches approximately 23 kilometers and is situated between Valemont and Jasper. It has gained a reputation for offering some of the most breathtaking scenery in the province, featuring majestic waterfalls, vibrant turquoise lakes, and towering glaciers. The trail, accessible via an eight-hour drive from downtown Vancouver, is home to seven backcountry campgrounds. Reservations are mandatory for visits between May 27 and September 29, ensuring that visitors can fully enjoy the natural beauty of this remarkable landscape.
Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit
Located roughly nine hours from Vancouver, Bowron Lake Park lies on the western slopes of the Cariboo Mountains near Barkerville. The park offers a challenging canoe circuit that spans 116 kilometers across ten lakes, with multiple portages. Depending on individual skill levels, paddlers can expect to complete the circuit in six to ten days. For those seeking a shorter adventure, the west side of the circuit offers a two to four-day option. Reservations are required from May 15 to September 27.
The ministry advises that spots for both the Berg Lake Trail and Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit are filling up quickly. Interested adventurers can make reservations through the BC Parks website or contact 1-800-689-9025 for assistance. As demand continues to rise, securing a spot early is essential for those planning to experience the stunning natural wonders of British Columbia.
