Nominations Open for St. Charles School District 303 Alumni Awards
Nominations are currently being accepted for the prestigious “Distinguished Alumni Class of 2026” within the St. Charles School District 303. This initiative seeks to honor alumni who have achieved remarkable success in their careers and made significant contributions to their communities. The nominations will be assessed by the district’s Distinguished Alumni Committee, which has recognized a total of 75 alumni since its inception in 1997.
The previous Distinguished Alumni Class of 2025 featured a diverse group, including a champion for women’s health, a NASA pioneer, a successful entrepreneur, and a prominent legal expert. Paul Gordon, Superintendent of St. Charles School District 303, expressed the importance of this recognition, stating, “The awards are a tremendous showcase of D303 excellence and the stories behind our educators and our schools helping these alums find their pathway.” He emphasized that the ultimate goal is not merely graduation but ensuring that every student is directed towards the right opportunities.
Clint Hull, a member of the Class of 1985 and a Distinguished Alum who is part of the committee, highlighted the significance of celebrating alumni for their contributions both locally and internationally. “It’s uplifting for the committee each year to hear about the impact of our alums and to choose from the best of the best to come back to St. Charles and be honored and celebrated,” Hull stated. He added that these awards present a valuable opportunity for distinguished alumni to share their experiences with current students.
Individuals interested in nominating an alumnus for this honor can do so via the committee’s online form. Each nomination must include pertinent biographical details about the nominee, and additional supporting materials may also be submitted. The nomination process will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on April 15, 2024.
The announcement of the Distinguished Alumni Class of 2026 is anticipated to occur later this spring. The selected inductees will be honored during a formal award ceremony in the fall, followed by a special “Comeback Day.” This event will allow the distinguished alumni to engage with students at both St. Charles East and St. Charles North high schools, fostering connections between past and present students.
As the nomination period unfolds, the district encourages community members to reflect on the achievements of alumni who have made noteworthy impacts, both within St. Charles and beyond. The recognition of their accomplishments serves to inspire current students and exemplifies the values of the school district.
